Realtors Should Make Videos

If you're a realtor and you just started reading this, then you're in luck because this month’s blog post is especially for real estate agents. Here we’re going to talk about how you can use video to gain more clients, generate goodwill and ultimately achieve more success in real estate.

Let's talk about the benefits of video for real estate agents. As a photographer, videographer and graphic designer here in Toronto a lot of my clients work in real estate, so I have a pretty good idea about the challenges that agents face in their day to day business, and a lot of it has to do with competition.

The fact is that there is an incredible amount of competition if you're a real estate agent. In Ontario alone, where I live, there are about 60,000 registered and licensed realtors, and about half of those are in Toronto.

Clearly if you want to compete you really have to find a way to set yourself apart, so here we're going to talk about three ways that creating video content can help you stand out from the competition, and help you gain more success in real estate.

Here are three reasons why realtors should make videos:

1. They help you get discovered online

2. They keep you top of mind

3. They allow you to gain a reputation as a leader

First we're going to talk about getting discovered, because if people are going to buy and sell real estate with you, first they need to know that you exist. If you create and upload videos on YouTube regularly, you're putting yourself near the top of the list for two of the biggest search engines in the world, which of course are Google search and YouTube search.

Not only that but if you take those videos and embed them on your website that's going to give a huge SEO (search engine optimization) boost to your website. So, you'll be getting views on those videos, but you'll also be getting more traffic to your website.

Another great thing about videos is that once you've shot and edited them a lot of the hard work is done, and now all you have to do is post those videos everywhere. What I do is keep my videos under 10 minutes long and then I can upload them to YouTube and embed them on my website, but I can also put them in places like IGTV and LinkedIn. Depending on your target demographic that's going to help even more people discover you as a realtor.

Next I want to talk about staying top of mind, because this is another huge advantage of creating videos, it keeps people thinking about you. Let's think about the times that you've gotten referrals. When someone calls one of your clients and ask them if they know any good Realtors you want them to think of your name first, and if they've just finished watching one of your videos then it's your name that's going to come up, and it's going be you who gets that business.

This doesn't just count for referrals for new buyers and sellers, this also counts for business opportunities. For instance, if someone is trying to think of an ambitious realtor to invite to a high-profile event, and again your name is coming up top of mind, then you're going to be invited to take advantage of those business opportunities.

Finally I want to talk about leadership because one of the best ways to create a career in real estate, or any industry really, is to be viewed as a leader in your field, and video can do a lot for you in this respect. By creating content that provides real value for your clients you're going to generate a lot of goodwill.

In many industries, but especially in real estate people want to work with an expert, and if you're creating content, interacting with your clients, and providing knowledge and advice then they are definitely going to come to see your expertise, and they're going to want to work with you.

I hope that you found this blog post hugely helpful. If you are looking for someone to help you shoot and/or edit content for real estate, or you just need somebody reliable to help you shoot videos and photos for your listings, I'm available to help, just message @galaxycreativeto
