5 Tips for an Eco-Friendly Business
If you are a business owner and especially if you’re in real estate, you are going to want to read this blog because I will be going over 5 tips to make your business more eco friendly.
This month is Earth day, and there are a lot of ways you can minimize your small businesses carbon footprint. So here I have broken down 5 tips to make your business more eco friendly.
1: Modernizing you market - Going Digital
Modernizing your market by going digital can actually be a lot more effective. Digital marketing like content creation such as instagram, Facebook ads, Youtube, don’t use any extra type of resources other than computers. You can cut the cost of print while also minimizing the amount of paper waste you create.
Digital print also gives you the opportunity to be a bit more specific, and tailored as to who receives it, rather than just sending it out to an area code.
If you have to print, print a minimal amount and try using recycled paper.
2: Reduce travel
Reducing travel is something that has come up a lot during this pandemic. We have learned that in person meetings and business trips are not as necessary as we thought.
There are many ways you can have meetings without travel. Try Zoom calls or connect using Slack.
There are many ways to reduce the amount you are traveling. Try riding a bike once in a while. If you have a lot of gear with you try electric vehicles instead.
3: Minimize your e-waste
When you are thinking of buying some new technology for your business, I suggest you do your research thoroughly before hand. Constantly buying new technology is very wasteful. It will be a lot more cost efficient for your business if you do your research before hand.
If you are using technology that uses batteries, try to buy tech that has long lasting batteries instead. When you are done with the batteries make sure you dispose of them correctly. There are many places that will take them such as Sonic Boom located on Spadina. I also recommend switching to reusable batteries. This way you can save a little bit of money and use less.
4: Build sustainable partnerships
Try partnering with businesses who are also sustainable. This makes sure you’re working for stuff you believe in.
Working with sustainable companies will influence a greener earth. It could bring opportunities to create content that could potentially get viewed by other people and target other companies you want to work with.
5: Make your office more eco friendly
I know many people are working from home right now, but there are many ways you can keep the office eco friendly.
One easy thing you can do is turning off lights when you leave a room. As well as shutting down computers when you are not using them
Also try simple things like managing your cooling and heating. Looking at natural ways of cooling a space, keeping windows closed or open, as well as keeping blinds open or closed for natural lighting.
Another easy thing you can do to limit waste is recycling when you can and providing employees with branded reusable cups and mugs.
